WHY FOUNDATION BEAUTY?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, students around the globe transitioned into remote learning from home, including me. It was difficult to get motivated after the first week of waking up for school on my computer. Throughout the quarantine, to break the monotony, I started to experiment with cosmetic looks. It was surprising that just a touch of lip gloss or a cool smokey eye could significantly improve my mood. After all, I was just a little square on the computer screen of other faces and wanted a way to show my individuality since no one could see my striped socks or tie-dye sneakers anymore.
With the pandemic, many unaddressed inequities came to the forefront. Many families that were already struggling pre-COVID 19 lost their jobs. Self-care, wellness, and hygiene should not be forgotten, and it should be accessible for these teens to enjoy cosmetics and have these basic personal hygiene items. I know that these are times of change and we are trying to find ourselves during this transition. We are all beautiful on the inside, but we often don’t feel that way on the outside. There is a myriad of issues that challenge us such as acne, body image, depression, feeling disconnected, Cosmetic products may seem trivial but I think they are a powerful tool for self-expression and building confidence. There will be dances, interviews, internships, and presentations in the future. Foundation Beauty is here for you. I believe that whatever your situation is, you deserve to have cosmetic and hygienic supplies available to tell your story.
